WRES NEWS

GATE students have a weekly news broadcast. Students take turns getting involved in the news. Some students will be in front of the camera, behind the camera, writing, interviewing, and brainstorming. Everyone can be apart of the WRES News!

What can we do at home?

Many of you ask me about ideas that you can do with your gifted child at home. The Alabama Association for Gifted Children have many great opportunities for your child to get creative and sharpen their minds. Check out the competitions and ideas listed on their website.

Student Websites Weebly for Education

Each year the GATE students are working towards building their technology skills. 4th grade students build their own websites using weebly for education. The students spend about ten minutes each week updating and adding to their site. I encourage students to continue building their site at home as well.  This is an excellent opportunity for the students to learn many skills in technology. Often students writing is limited to the teacher and parents reading their thoughts and ideas. Using Weebly allows their classmates and friends to read students work and make comments and connections to their classmates thoughts and ideas.

Each student site is password protected so only invited visitors will able to visit.

Below is a link to see an example of the type site the students will be creating.

Please save Box Tops!

G.A.T.E. Loves Box Tops Too!

Please keep G.A.T.E. classes in mind when saving Box Tops! I turn these labels in for credit to our classroom account. Ask friends and relatives to save them for you. Each top gives our class 10 cents. It is amazing how quickly it adds up when we are all saving them.

Thank you!!
